Getting Started
Back It Up allows you to safely copy your photos and videos to:
USB storage devices
SMB network folders
Local directories (macOS)
To perform a backup, the app needs:
Access to your photo library
Access to the folder or storage device you choose
No account or login is required.
🔍 Common Questions
Why does the app need access to my photos?
Back It Up can only scan and export photos with the system photo permission.
Photos are never uploaded or shared — everything stays on your device.
Does the app collect any data?
No. Back It Up does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.

Do I need an account?
No accounts are used. All features are available from the first launch.
🛠 Troubleshooting
USB device not recognized
Make sure the USB drive is properly formatted (exFAT recommended).
Ensure the device draws enough power or use an adapter with power pass-through.
SMB server cannot be reached
Verify the server address (e.g., smb://192.168.1.10).
Make sure the server and iPhone/iPad are on the same network.
Check username/password if required.
Not all photos appear
iCloud may temporarily keep originals in the cloud.
Back It Up automatically downloads full-resolution versions while exporting.
